DEVON -- Unlikely Cowboy, the popular urban country band from Philadelphia, will be the headline musical attraction at the Philadelphia Rodeo and Fall Festival October 20-21 on the grounds of the Devon Horse Show. Unlikely Cowboy will take the stage on Saturday night around 7 p.m., highlighting the event’s official after-party, immediately following the rodeo competition. Led by Daniel Schwartz, the band offers music influenced by Neil Young, Tom Petty and Prince. Schwartz is joined by Andrew Vick on the drums, Alison Wadsworth on vocals, Peter Burton on keys, Eric Hickey on electric guitar and Damien Mason on bass. The third annual festival will also feature New Jersey country music artist Lori Lampkin and teen country sensation Aaron Kelly. Kelly will kickoff the live music on Saturday, October 20, at 1:30 p.m. followed by Lampkin who will perform at 3 p.m. Lampkin will also provide live music on Sunday, October 21 at 12:30 p.m. Lampkin’s music offers an enticing mix of country, soul and blues, and is strongly influenced by Faith Hill, Sarah Mclachlan and Peter Gabriel. Lampkin is joined by Wayne Killius on drums and percussion, Jeff King on the electric guitar, Mark Prentice on bass, Bobby Terri on acoustic guitar and Dennis Wage on keyboard and piano. Other musicians include Dan Lynam and Joe Mattis. Kelly, 14, has a vocal range reminiscent of Michael Jackson during his early years. His music has been strongly influenced by Charlie Daniels, Montgomery Gentry, and Josh Turner. Joining Kelly are Phyllis Sands on the keyboard and vocals, Ray Shirk on bass guitar and vocals and Bob Semmel on lead guitar. The Philadelphia Rodeo and Fall Festival features 30 pro bull riders, bronc riders and ladies barrel racers, plus kid’s activities, live music and food and beverage concessions. There will be an expanded Kids Korral with pumpkin carving, make-a-scarecrow, mechanical bull riding, crafts, games and activities. Children can also show off their cowboy and cowgirl skills in the rodeo arena during the Little Buck-A-Roo Rodeo where they have a chance to participate in mutton bustin', sheep scrambles and pony stick races. Tickets for the Bull Ride Mania Tour-sanctioned event are $10 for kids and $20 to $35 for adults. Tickets can be purchased by calling (610) 994-9787 or visiting www.phillyrodeo.com. ALL proceeds from the Philadelphia Rodeo and Fall Festival will be benefiting The NephCure Foundation, a Berwyn-based charity committed to seeking a cure for two debilitating kidney diseases, Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), and the Berwyn Fire Co. |
