Major New Technical Report Finds Wind Can Provide 20% of U.S. Electricity Needs by 2030
WASHINGTON, DC
-- Wind power is capable of becoming a major contributor to America’s electricity supply over the next three decades, according to a report released today by the U.S. Department of Energy. The groundbreaking report, 20% Wind Energy by 2030: Increasing Wind Energy’s Contribution to U.S. Electricity Supply, looks closely at one scenario for reaching 20% wind energy by 2030 and contrasts it to a scenario of no new U.S. wind power capacity.

ACE Response to Senators’ Calls for Renewable Fuels Waiver
SIOUX FALLS, SD
-- The American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) responded to calls from some U.S. Senators that the EPA waive the Renewable Fuels Standard ethanol requirement. In a nutshell, leaving ethanol behind would increase the already high gasoline prices.

DEP Secretary Applauds State's Largest Solar Energy Project at Philadelphia's Naval Yard
HARRISBURG
-- Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Kathleen A. McGinty today hailed an announcement by the city of Philadelphia that a vacant, seven-acre brownfield at the Navy Yard will soon help to meet Pennsylvania’s energy needs with clean, renewable solar technology.

Ethanol Industry Statement: State biofuels waiver request is the wrong course of action
SIOUX FALLS, SD
-- The American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) Friday released the following statement in response to the Texas Governor’s request to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for a waiver from the Renewable Fuels Standard.

Highland Wind Project to Generate Enough Power for 16,000 Homes
HARRISBURG
-- A former Cambria County strip mine that has since been reclaimed will soon be home to 25 wind turbines generating enough power to meet the needs of 16,000 homes, Environmental Protection Secretary Kathleen A. McGinty said Thursday as she helped to break ground on the Highland wind project. According to the secretary, the $140 million effort shows Pennsylvania’s leadership in clean, renewable energy development and will bring with it additional economic and environmental benefits.
