Reader Requests Help Concerning Moles
My lawn has been infested with moles for the last six years. I have eliminated the grubs and am now grub free for the last five years, but the moles are still multiplying. Pellets, grannuals and sonic spikes have proved ineffective. I haven't tried traps yet, but find this a more difficult venture. Is Talpirid mole bait my only choice left? What history have you in ridding moles and can one of your departments give me some advice?
Greatfully appreciated, Dom Marucci ndmaruch@msn.com

No Animal Should Be Abused
Dear Editor,
Per comment in your release on 02/26/08 a USDA inspector was at Westland/Hallmark Meat Co. I am wondering, what was the inspector doing at the time the video was shot?

I just wonder what else is going on at slaughterhouses. That video is the most repulsive thing I have ever seen!! I have lost my appetite for beef. I never though I would ever applaud anything that the Humane Society of the United States ever did but they need to keep up with this. And, also video the USDA inspectors that are on guard (?) protecting our food supply.

I can not believe the abuse in that video. I have even seen a comment from someone in Switzerland. Where are the USDA inspectors?

I have no problem with Westland/Hallmark going out of business. And, upper management should never be permitted to work in any industry related to animals. No, I've never been a vegetarian. I just don't think any animal should be abused!
