Poultry Farming Method



Nowadays poultry farming has increase its popularity that it can be found in several countries around the world. What is poultry?. Is a category of domesticated birds, which are kept by humanity for raising their meat, feathers and eggs. These birds are typically members of the superorder Galloanserae, which includes chickens, quails, turkeys and the family of Anatidae, which includes domestic geese and domestic duck. It also includes birds which are killed for their meat such as: Doves, pigeons, pheasants, etc. The poultry term derives from the French word called Poule, which means small animal. Poultry is known to be the second most eaten meat around the world. This type of farming is the main practice of raising domesticated birds and its a subcategory of animal husbandry. Animal husbandry is the practice of raising and breeding livestock.

Nowadays it is known that more than sixty billion chickens are raised yearly as an important source of food such as their eggs and meat. The animals which are raised for their chicken eggs are called Laying hens and the ones raised for their meat are called Broilers. Most poultry is raised with the usage of intensive techniques. The poultry farming techniques are the following: 1- Free range, 2- Yarding, 3- Intensive chicken farming and 4- Indoor with higher welfare.

Some of the poultry farming equipment is the following: Drinking equipment, incubators, poultry house, feeding equipment, egg packaging, depilator, battery cages, fans, heaters, lights, livestock medicators and many more. The chickens in the United States were primarily raised by family farms until 1960. Some examples of utilization of the animals in this type of farming are the following: 1- Chicken: Eggs, meat, feathers and leather. 2- Emu: Leather, oil and meat. 3- Duck: Eggs, meat and feathers. 4- Goose: Feathers, eggs and meat. 5- Turkey: Feathers and meat. 6- Rhea: Oil, eggs, meat and leather, etc. Learn more here about poultry farming.
